Product types and variants in the WooCommerce integration

Understand how different product types in Telaris are translated to WooCommerce.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Introduction to product types

Telaris and WooCommerce use different terms for product types. The integration translates automatically between them.

It is important to understand how this works, especially if you work with variants or composite products.

Tips: The correct product type in Telaris gives the correct setup in WooCommerce automatically.

Walkthrough of product types

Below you can see how product types in Telaris are mapped to WooCommerce.

Guide: Product sync to WooCommerce

Regular products

Telaris: Product

WooCommerce: Simple product

These are standard products without variants or sub-products.

Variants (selection)

Telaris: Selection

WooCommerce: Variable product

Used for products with options, such as size or colour.

Each variant is exported as a separate variant in WooCommerce with:

  • Own prices
  • Own stock
  • Own attributes

NOTE: Variants must be set up correctly in Telaris to display correctly in WooCommerce.

Grouped products (expansion)

Telaris: Expansion

WooCommerce: Grouped product

This is a collection of related products.

Sub-products are first exported as separate products and then linked together in WooCommerce.

Bundles (collection)

Telaris: Collection

WooCommerce: Simple product + metadata

Bundles are exported as regular products with extra metadata about which products are included.

Correct display requires a compatible bundle plugin in WooCommerce.

NOTE: The price for bundles must be set manually in Telaris. It is not calculated automatically.

Production products

Telaris: Production

WooCommerce: Simple product

These are exported as regular products without special handling.

Common problems with product types

If products do not display correctly in WooCommerce, check:

  • Wrong product type in Telaris
  • Variants not configured correctly
  • Missing plugin for bundles

NOTE: Bundles do not display correctly without customisation or a plugin in WooCommerce.
