How it works
Function
When creating a new customer or supplier, filling in the company registration number is mandatory. If the setting is activated after customers or suppliers are already registered, the requirement takes effect on the first save.
Check
If the company registration number already exists in the system, you get a warning about it. The check is based on the same 9 digits in the same order being registered on another customer or supplier, regardless of any leading NO, trailing MVA, or spaces/characters between the digits.
Note that this applies across customers and suppliers. If you want to create a customer/supplier that is already a supplier (or vice versa), go into the supplier and change the type to "Supplier/Company" instead of creating a new customer/supplier.
If you get a warning that a duplicate exists, you are prevented from creating a new one. Go back to the customer/supplier search and find the entry that is already linked to the number.
The requirement and check do not apply to private customers. For these, you choose the customer type private and register the customer without a company registration number.
